A. Investigate the workings of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERPs) through literature research.
In this task you are expected to compile:
• A description of ERPs workings and map them against the systems hierarchy.
• Explanation the flow of information through their use (input, storage, process and dissemination).
• Explanation of what type/level of system an ERP is.
• An explanation of how ERPs affect the value chain of the organisation, and add value.
• Any issues with acquiring and using ERPs in organisations.
• A list of current ERP providers and comparison of their software functionalities. Provide the necessary URL and information in appendices.
• Provide a list of books and journal papers that discuss ERPs. Please note that a working URL and DOI code of the journal papers must be given in the bibliography. Try to provide a historical chain of publications.

B. Investigate the emergence of new technologies, such as cloud computing, and their impact on organisational information systems governance. Please highlight the key developments but focus ONLY on one type of technology in detail. You may undertake research in IS literature and general and IT based news bulletins etc.

In this task you are expected to compile:
• A list of new major IT development in current times, such as Cloud Computing, Software as Service, Miniaturisation of Technology etc.
