The Chinese construction industry needs to improve. There are still an unacceptably high level of health and safety violations, and corrupt practices.
Analyse and discuss the above statement, and present your conclusions in a logical and coherent manner in report format of no more than 1500 words using examples and case studies to justify your arguments. You should pay particular attention to the ethical and professional issues, and how legislative frameworks do or do not enable accountability and responsibility within the given context.
This assignment will assess the following learning outcomes:
- Demonstrate a critical awareness of appropriate legal and professional contexts
2. Analyse and evaluate legal and professional issues relating to complex problems, situations or case scenarios
6. Retrieve and evaluate in a specialised context the relevant information from a wide range of appropriate sources e.g. textbooks, newspapers, websites, journals and law reports
9. Present information and communicate effectively in written or oral form, at an appropriate level, including the acknowledgement and referencing of sources and demonstrate a capacity for independent and self-managed learning
10. Contextualise the knowledge, competencies and practical skills from the module and apply this to real world contexts and activities
You are also required to produce an individual reflective statement of 500 words which is to be submitted with the report (please see below and separate guide on reflective statements).
Please specify the word count at the end of your written reflective statement.
You are NOT required to use Turnitin as the Reflective Statement is essentially a personal statement and should be tailored to your own experiences. The report context is new and lack of attribution will be penalised accordingly.
STUDENT GUIDANCE ON REFLECTIVE STATEMENTS

What problems did I encounter when completing the assignment (if any)? e.g. with resources, with the teaching strategies adopted, with the level required
What would I do differently next time and what would have enabled me to do a better job?
When completing the report, which learning outcomes did I find easiest to demonstrate / perform the best at? (You should give your reasons for this).
When completing the report, which learning outcomes did I find most difficult / perform worst at? (you may give reasons for this)
Do I honestly believe that I have performed to the best of my ability? If a resit, why was I not able to do better first time around?
