Psychosocial interventions in workplace – Assignment
An experiment was conducted to determine if motivational techniques in management significantly impacted employee stress levels compared to no intervention. An employee survey was given to three groups: one group under a manager who started using a transformational motivation technique, one group under a manager who began using a transformational motivation technique, and then a control group with no new technique used. Stress levels were self-reported by the employees as shown below. Use alpha = 0.05
Transformational | Transactional | Control |
0 | 2 | 6 |
7 | 5 | 5 |
3 | 3 | 8 |
5 | 0 | 9 |
2 | 1 | 5 |
- What is your null hypothesis?
- What is your alternative hypothesis?
- After running the single factor analysis of variance on the data, what is the p-value for between groups?
- Using the 95% significance level, is there a significance difference in stress levels between the three groups? Yes or No
- Do you reject or accept the null hypothesis? Reject Accept
Chi-Square Test for Independence
Using Chi-Square, we are looking to see if there is a significant difference between what we would expect results to be, and what the actual results were. That is, expected vs. observed. Use alpha = .05
Listed below are data from a survey conducted recently where Males and Females responded to their happiness with their supervisor (this is fictitious data).
Response | Male | Female | Total |
Not at all | 23 | 25 | 48 |
Somewhat | 13 | 22 | 35 |
Very | 26 | 16 | 42 |
Total | 62 | 63 | 125 |
- What is your null hypothesis?
- What is your alternative hypothesis?
- What is the Chi-Square value?
- Is there significance evidence that a difference exists between the actual males and female responses in this sample and the expected male/female responses in the population? YES or NO
